Vitalize

Problem

Current hospital wellness programming for providers is conducted in-person, which is expensive and also results in poor attendance due to lack of anonymity, time/location inflexibility, and perceived stigma. There are no tools for health care professionals to anonymously seek support and wellness training.

Solution

We built a new feature that allows users to anonymously connect with trained wellness coaches and attend professionally moderated peer-support groups to bolster their program’s wellness offerings. The app contains tailored, evidence-based mindfulness and journaling exercises designed to boost the wellness and professional satisfaction of healthcare providers. We are translating traditional in-person hospital programming into a digital solution that is anonymous, time-effective, cheaper, accessible, and personalized. Our app also offers a community mode that allows users to share wellness stories and strategies, and find support from others going through similar stresses.

Impact

Feel Better, Treat Better. Vitalize prioritizes the mental health of health care professionals who are facing increasing rates of stress and burnout. Vitalize helps healthcare providers recenter their emotions, reignite their sense of purpose, and avoid burnout. In turn, patients will receive higher quality of care and hospitals will save more money.

DIFUSE Data Science Component

Through content custom-developed to the stressors faced by healthcare providers, Vitalize uses data to help. The app offers personalized insights into wellness progress by analyzing the user’s input data (such as mood, the frequency of meditation track usage, and a journal) to suggest causal relations or inferences. Vitalize was built with React Native on the frontend and Express on the backend.
